Diamond Bar incorporated in 1989, but most of the housing was developed through the 1970s and 1980s — which means the original garage hardware on a lot of these homes is 35 to 50 years old. South Pointe, Pantera, and the general residential neighborhoods have standard single-family homes on rolling lots, mostly 2-car attached garages. The older hardware out here — springs installed when the homes were built — is genuinely at end of life. Some homeowners have replaced things over the years, but plenty haven't, and we see springs that are corroded, cables that are fraying, and openers from the 1990s that are finally giving out. Then there's The Country Estates: a gated community at the northern end of the city with larger custom homes, often with extra-wide or extra-tall doors. The spring and hardware requirements for those doors are different from a standard residential setup, and not every tech is set up for them. We are. The hilly terrain throughout the city also means driveway grades vary — same issue we see in Chino Hills and Upland, where slope affects counterbalance requirements.
