What We Do

Services

From emergency repairs to full installations, we cover every kind of garage door work across Orange County and the Inland Empire.

The Problems We Fix

Most of the calls we get sound familiar if you've lived in Southern California for a while. A spring snaps in the middle of the night and the door won't budge. The opener hums but nothing moves. A cable frays, a roller pops off the track, or the door comes down crooked after years of daily use. Our heat, our Santa Ana winds, and the salt air drifting inland all take their toll on hardware that most homeowners never think about until it fails.

Here are the issues we see most often in homes around Anaheim, Riverside, and the surrounding cities:

Whatever the symptom, we'll walk you through what's actually happening and what it will cost before we touch a wrench.

What We Put On Your Door

A garage door is only as good as the hardware holding it together, and most homeowners never get told what went on theirs. Here's exactly what we use and why.

Doors

Every new door we install is a Clopay. They're one of the largest door manufacturers in the country and they build in the USA, with steel, insulated, and carriage-house styles that hold up to Southern California heat far better than a thin single-layer panel. You pick the look; we'll tell you honestly which construction suits your opening and how it will behave in summer.

When you buy a garage door from us, everything gets replaced — sections, track, rollers, hinges, cables, springs, the lot. We don't mix and match new panels onto tired hardware to shave the quote. Old parts on a new door is how you end up with a door that looks new and fails like an old one, and it makes the warranty meaningless because nobody can say which piece gave out.

We also take our time. A garage door install is not a job to rush — the track has to be square, the door has to be plumb, the springs have to be wound to the actual weight of what we just hung, and every one of those takes as long as it takes. Crews that are chasing three installs in a day cut those corners, and you find out about it two years later when the door starts binding. We would rather do one a day properly and have it still running right in fifteen years.

Motors

For replacements we install Professional Line LiftMaster openers, and Chamberlain when a customer specifically asks for it. Those are the only two we'll put on a door, and that's a decision about quality rather than convenience — we'd rather not be back in three years replacing a unit we chose.

Repairs are a different matter entirely. We service every brand of residential opener, whatever badge is on it. If your existing motor can be fixed, we'll fix it — you don't need to replace a working opener just because we didn't install it.

On installs we do not cut corners. We rehang the motor rather than bolting a new unit onto whatever brackets and rail were already up there, and we replace all the wiring instead of splicing into the old runs. Splicing onto brittle decades-old wire is the shortcut nobody sees afterward, and it is why a brand new opener can behave like the one it replaced. The only wiring we leave alone is what is already run inside the wall.

Springs

Our springs come from American Spring, Inc. American Spring manufactures high-quality oil-tempered torsion and extension garage door springs in the USA. They use ASTM-certified wire, heat-treat the steel in computer-controlled ovens, and apply a rust-resistant Therma-Dep coating. Both winding and stationary cones are factory-installed for safety and easier installation.

That matters more than it sounds. A spring is the single hardest-working part on your door, and the difference between a properly heat-treated one and a cheap import shows up as an early failure with a car trapped inside.

Parts

Cables, rollers, hinges, bearings, track, and weather seal are the pieces that quietly decide how long everything else lasts. We buy all of our parts from Clopay — they don't carry a bargain tier, so everything they supply is quality hardware, and that's what lets us warranty our work instead of hoping. We keep the common pieces on the truck so most repairs finish in one visit, and we fit nylon rollers with sealed bearings rather than the bare steel most builders install — they run quieter and they don't chew through a track.

Service Across Southern California

We cover all of Orange County and most of the Inland Empire, and true emergencies — a door stuck open overnight or a spring that left your car trapped inside — move to the front of the line.

Meet the Family

The People Behind the Service

Cooper Family Garage Doors is owned and operated by Craig and Kimber Cooper. We built this business on referrals from neighbors who trust us — and we intend to keep it that way. When you call, you reach us. When we show up, it's the same faces from our website, not a stranger in a logo'd shirt.

"Every door we service, we treat like it's on our own home. Every customer we meet, we treat like our own family. That's the only way we know how to do business."
— Craig Cooper

Why Families Choose Us

We earn referrals the old-fashioned way — by doing right by the last customer so they tell the next one. We're fully licensed and insured under CSLB #1153364, accredited with the Better Business Bureau, and every job is backed personally by Kimber and me. If something isn't right, you call us directly and we make it right. No hiding behind a call center, no finger-pointing between a subcontractor and an office.

That personal accountability is the whole reason we started Cooper Family Garage Doors. It's also why we still answer the phone ourselves, even on weekends.

What Customers Say

"From the moment he arrived, he treated us like family. Craig took the time to thoroughly inspect every part of the system instead of rushing through the job. During his inspection, he even caught a fraying cable that we completely missed, which could have become a much bigger — and dangerous — issue later on. His pricing was very fair, and unlike many companies, he never tried to upsell us or push unnecessary repairs. If you're looking for someone trustworthy, professional, and genuinely kind, Cooper Family Garage is the company to call."

Questions

Frequently Asked

What does a typical garage door repair cost in Southern California?
General repairs start at $150. Spring replacement starts at $275 for a single-spring door and $375 for a two-spring system. A new LiftMaster opener installation starts at $799. Where your job lands depends on the weight of the door, the size of the springs it needs, and what else we find worn. We do not price by neighborhood or by the car sitting in your driveway — every customer is quoted from the same price guide, and you have the exact number before any work starts.
How long do most garage door repairs take?
The majority of repairs are done in about 60 to 90 minutes once we're on-site. More involved jobs like opener installs or track realignment usually wrap up within two to three hours.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Cooper Family Garage Doors is fully licensed and insured in California under CSLB #1153364, and we carry liability coverage on every job so you're protected from the moment we pull into the driveway.
What kind of warranty do you offer on parts and labor?
Installations carry a one-year parts and labor warranty. Repairs carry a one-year parts warranty with 90 days on our labor. On top of that we pass through the full manufacturer warranty on parts, which typically runs one year for door hardware and one year up to lifetime for motor parts depending on the component. If something we install fails early, we come back and fix it.
Do you offer emergency or same-day service?
We do. Same-day appointments are available across Orange County and the Inland Empire on most days, and we prioritize true emergencies like a door stuck open or a vehicle trapped in the garage.
